🚣 Getting Started with Fishing

To begin fishing, you have to acquire a Fishing Rod and Fishing Bait, both of which can be obtained from Fishing Instructors. Fishing can be performed at any body of water, but certain areas offer better chances for rare catches.

How to Fish

  1. Equip a Fishing Rod and Fishing Bait.
  2. Find a body of water and cast the rod.
  3. Monitor the overhead icons:
    • First icon: The fish is almost ready to be caught.
    • Second icon (Rod symbol): Click the rod again to reel in the fish.
    • Failing to react to the second icon will result in a failed catch.

Fishing success depends on the type of bait used, the fishing rod’s quality and your fishing level.

🧑‍🏫 Fishing Instructors and Locations

Fishing Instructors provide quests to advance fishing levels, sell fishing-related recipes and materials and offer Fishing Rod Repair Kits.

🪱 Fishing Baits

Using the right bait is essential for improving fishing efficiency and increasing the chances of catching rare fish. There are three main types of bait, each suited for different levels of fishing expertise.

  • [Basic Fish Bait] is the most accessible option and can be purchased directly from any Fishing Instructor. It’s perfect for beginners and allows players to start catching fish right away.
  • [Attractive Fish Bait] becomes available at Fishing Level 36 and offers a better chance of catching higher-quality fish. This bait isn’t sold directly but can be obtained by trading common caught fish with Fishing Instructors.
  • [Bloody Fish Bait] is a high-level bait that requires Fishing Level 58 to use. This bait significantly improves the chances of catching rare and valuable fish. Unlike the other baits, it is acquired by exchanging rare caught fish with Fishing Instructors.

Upgrading to better bait as soon as it becomes available will greatly enhance fishing success, making it easier to obtain both valuable fish and rare treasures.

🧰 Fishing Equipment

Fishing gear improves efficiency, increases the chance of catching rare fish, and affects fishing speed. Some equipment is craftable using materials obtained from fishing.

🪵 Fishing Rod Durability and Repairs

Fishing rods degrade with use and require maintenance.

  • Each use decreases durability.
  • Fishing Rod Repair Kits can restore durability but have a chance to malfunction.
  • Malfunctions may reduce durability further or, in rare cases, destroy the rod completely.

To avoid losing high-tier fishing rods, it is recommended to repair them before they reach critical durability.

💎 Rare Fishing Treasures

While fishing, there is a small chance to pull up something far more valuable than just fish. These rare treasures contain unique rewards, including crafting recipes and special items.
One of the most sought-after treasures is the Scroll in a Bottle. These mysterious scrolls contain one of 30 exclusive fishing recipes, making them highly valuable for players looking to craft advanced fishing equipment or special items.
Another rare find is the Unknown Box, which can contain a variety of Item Shop rewards or Quality of Life items. Since the contents of the box are random, opening one could grant anything from useful consumables to rare and valuable resources.
The chances of finding these treasures are low, but they can be increased by using higher-quality fishing rods and advanced bait. Patience and persistence will eventually be rewarded with these rare and valuable finds.

🎲 Treasure Drop Rates

Fishing rewards are determined after a successful catch. Each hook generates its own reward roll, meaning that using multiple hooks can result in multiple independent reward rolls from a single cast.

The chance of finding a treasure increases with your Fishing Skill Level and Fishing Treasure.

Fishing inside a valid Stream Zone provides an additional 10 percentage point bonus to the treasure chance.

Active and AFK fishing use the same treasure chance mechanics, but their treasure reward distributions are different.

🎁 Treasure Reward Distribution

The following probabilities apply after successfully rolling a treasure:

Reward Active Fishing AFK Fishing
Golden Fish 1.333% 0.500%
Unknown Box 3.667% 0.500%
Golden Fish (Imitation) 6.000% 2.500%
Fishing Rune 6.500% 0%
Scroll in Bottle 7.500% 16.500%
Broken Fishing Line 15.000% 20.000%
Shoe Lace 13.333% 13.333%
Torn Cloth 13.333% 13.333%
Wooden Stick 13.334% 13.334%
Ripped Leather 20.000% 20.000%

These percentages represent the chance of receiving each reward after a treasure has already been rolled. They are not the overall chance per cast or per hook.

Certain rewards may also have additional requirements or restrictions, so actual results can vary depending on the character and situation.

🃏 Fishing Cards

Fishing Cards use a separate roll from treasure rewards.

After catching an eligible fish, there is a chance to receive its corresponding Fishing Card. This chance increases with your Fishing Treasure.

The chance of obtaining a specific card also depends on how frequently its corresponding fish can be caught. The available fish can vary depending on factors such as:

  • Fishing Skill Level
  • Fishing rod
  • Zone
  • Water type
  • Individual fish requirements

The real Golden Fish can also reward its Fishing Card when caught. Golden Fish (Imitation) does not trigger this card roll during the catch.

Active and AFK fishing use the same Fishing Card mechanics.

🐟 Sacrificing Fish for Fishing Cards

Fish can also be sacrificed for an additional chance to obtain their corresponding Fishing Card.

For ordinary fish, heavier specimens have a higher chance of awarding a card. The chance is based on the fish's weight compared to the maximum possible weight for that species, together with your Fishing Gathering Speed.

Both variants of the Golden Fish have a separate increased card chance when sacrificed.

When several matching fish are sacrificed at once, only one Fishing Card of that fish type can be obtained from that confirmation, even though all selected fish are consumed.

Both Golden Fish variants award the same Fishing Card.

📦 Unknown Box Rewards

The Unknown Box uses a separate reward roll when opened.

The initial reward category chances are:

Initial Category Standard Newbie-qualified
Very Rare 7.5% 10%
Rare 22.5% 30%
Fish 45% 60%
Common 25% 0%

The system first selects a reward category and then chooses a reward from within that category.

Some rewards may have additional requirements. If the selected reward cannot be granted, another reward may be selected instead.

Because of this, the values above represent the initial category chances, not the exact final chance of receiving an individual item.

Scroll in Bottle recipes use their own weighted reward selection.

🌊 Stream Zones - Special Fishing Areas

Stream Zones are rare fishing locations that provide increased efficiency and a higher chance of catching valuable fish or treasures.

Identifying a Stream Zone

  • Appear as agitated or bubbling water in various bodies of water.
  • Provide bonuses when fishing within them.
  • Relocate after a period of time or after being overused.

If a Stream Zone is discovered, it is recommended to use it quickly before it disappears.

💡 Additional Tips for Fishing

  • Carry extra bait to avoid running out during a fishing session.
  • Repair fishing rods regularly to prevent breakage.
  • Use higher-tier bait to catch valuable fish more efficiently.
  • Utilize Stream Zones for better rewards.
  • React quickly to fishing icons to avoid failed attempts.
